This is a modification of Ken’s modification of Sully’s great WIP skin. Sully’s original skin uses child windows to work its magic. I’ve modified the skin to use pop up windows. There are some benefits to this approach. The skin itself is now quite small – only 70 pixels high. The advantage of this is that it runs quite well from the Today screen itself, freeing up the custom tab of Pocket Breeze for another application. Never the less the pop ups still work and, a real bonus in my opinion, the D pad can be used to scroll the data even if the D pad is enabled within Pocket Breeze!

Installation

  1. Using the Today Plug-in applet install Weather Panel, Pocket Breeze, and Pocket Plus in that exact order.
  2. Set the height for Pocket Breeze at 160.
  3. Make sure Pocket Plus has only one line of programs showing in all the tabs. This will keep it minimized and allow for everything to fit on the screen.

Usage

Tapping the day weather icon will bring up the detail screen. The three icons across the top are for hourly graphs, radar, and daily graphs in that order. The setting icon is hidden in far left of the city bar using Ken’s trick that he posted with his skin. Once the pop up window is evoked the D pad can be used to scroll the data. Right and left scroll will move through the days (in the detail view) and up and down scroll will scroll the cities (all views). The pop up is closed using the X button in the far upper right on the Today screen.

Thanks to Sully and Ken for showing the way. Also thanks to them for their very nice graphic work. I hope this is useful to someone else.

Additional files

  • This is an alternative file for the detailed weather view. The original skin changes to the forecast view after one hour. This file will allow the current view to remain active for 24 hours and then shift to the forecast view if the data has not been refreshed. Use it if the frequent N/A icons in the first version bother you: Alternate detailed view
  • This is a version of the skin for people who do not use Wisbar Advance. It has close buttons on each pop up to allow them to be closed from the pop up itself rather than from the menu bar: WeatherPlus with close button
