Graphs enlargement add-on

Graphs enlargement add-on

To install the Graphs enlargement add-on download and unzip the Graphs.zip file and copy all the files into your WeatherBox Redux theme file, when prompted whether to overwrite existing files select yes to all. That's it, the add-on is installed, now when looking at any one of the sixteen available graphs tap on a graph you wish to view in detail and it will double in size, to close this view tap on the actual graph to return to your previous view or close by tapping the center of the current temperature at the top of the screen to return to the main display.

Lunar Phase Real time add-on

Moon Phase Real time add-on Image:Boxlunarrealtime.png

To install the Moon Phase add-on download and unzip the Moon.zip file and copy the file into your WeatherBox Redux theme file, when prompted whether to overwrite the existing file select yes. To use this you must have the fourth radar image for all cities pointed to the following URL: [1] You should not use this file unless you point to this URL!! There is already a lunar Phase details screen without the realtime image included with this theme. Special thanks to Sully for the idea of using this image for current moon status.

Radar Index page add-on

Radar Index page add-on Image:WBoxRadar.gif

To install the Radar index add-on download and unzip the WeatherBoxRadarUpdate.zip. In it you will find two folders. Copy all the contents of the Radar update folder (8 WPX files and 16 PNG images) into your WeatherBox Redux theme file, when prompted whether to overwrite existing files select yes to all. That's it, the add-on is installed. Now when you open the Radar window the defualt screen will be an index of the first six images. This screen is really not intended for viewing the radars, but simply to allow you to identify which radar you wish to view. The numbering of the view is left to right starting with 1 in the upper left corner. All other functions are the same as before for selecting other radar windows. To return to the index screen just tap on the text 'Current Radar'. If for speed reasons you prefer not to have this as your default radar window when opening the radar screen take the one file in the folder named 'use to default to radar 1' and copy it to your WeatherBox Redux theme file, again when prompted select yes to overwrite. You will still have access to the index screen by tapping the 'Current Radar' text, but when opening the radar window it will open radar 1.

Introduction

Special thanks to Buzzard for the use of his WeatherBox background image and sunrise and sunset images for WeatherBox Redux!

Introducing the most powerful and complex WeatherPanel theme ever created, from the deceptively simple front end where you can access a Radar window which optionally shows an index view of your first six radar images for your selected city, where you can select one of six different radars, four hourly and four daily graphs are available in both line and bar style, large current and forecast conditions, text conditions, Weather Alert page, lunar calendar page, and a WeatherBox Redux information page. All of these pages are available with no more than two taps on your today screen and most are available with one tap. Because of careful design this theme uses surprisingly little memory. Give it a try, you won't be dissappointed.

If you have any questions or problems please read the instructions below the image.

Special Requirements

This theme requires the latest beta of WeatherPanel, and you need at least two sizes of icons for proper display, for the standard files you need regular and large icons and for the huge files you need regular and huge icons (and will display best if you also have large icons) The lunar calendar display will work best if you have mini moon icons in your selected theme. It will use the built in mini moons if you do not but this will significantly slow the display

General Directions:

Download the proper VGA or QVGA file to your computer and unzip the folder and place the WeatherBox folder on your PPC in your MaresWare/WeatherPanel/Themes folder. Go into WeatherPanel settings and select the display tab from the bottom. For theme select WBox Redux, and select one of the WeatherBox layouts for the Layout. A general description of available layouts is listed below. Select the icons you wish to use with the layout (Note that the lunar calendar works much faster if you have mini moon icons with the Icons you select, and you need very large icons in a subfolder of your icon set named "HUGE". All themes work best with both normal and large icons.)

WeatherPanel Layouts included with this Theme:

WBox PB.wpl - This theme is meant to be used as a custom tab in the new PocketBreeze 5 when you have the side tab display enabled. To use this you will have to have PB's height set at a minimum of 412 for VGA devices and 206 for QVGA devices.

WBox PB Huge.wpl - Same as above but requires Huge icons to display correctly.

WBox.wpl - A near full screen version centered on the today screen, works best as a tab in PocketBreeze using the Classic tabs display or on it's own virtual page in Wisbar Advance Desktop. You can run it directly on your today screen with room for one small plugin.

WBox Huge.wpl - Same as above but requires Huge icons to display correctly.

Wbox Popup.wpl - A popup version of WeatherBox Redux for people who don't use PocketBreeze or WAD and don't have room on their Today screen for a full screen weather plugin. This has a height of 38 pixels on a QVGA device and 76 pixels on a VGA device. The popup will completely cover your today screen and function almost exactly as the other files above with the exception of the Settings button which is on the plugin and not the popup (This is because the settings button does not work as expected when used from a popup).

WBox Popup Huge.wpl - Same as above but requires Huge icons to display correctly.

Trouble Shooting

a.) Because of the way I optimized this theme to use as little memory as possible while running you will find when openning a new child window you will momentarily see the previously viewed child window which will update to the new child window. This is more of a limitation on how WeatherPanel works than a bug. I could have set it up for maximum speed when switching pages but the theme would have used about ten times more memory when running so I believe my solution was the best trade off. If I used unique identifiers for each child window this theme would have 22 child windows.

b.) Occassionaly when switching between the offset and non offset versions of the WeatherBox Redux WPL files you may find the bottom part of the box offset from the top part of the box. If this does not happen the first time you open a child window it never will until you change themes. If this happens go into settings and select a different WPL file (preferably Default-Compact.wpl or another having nothing to do with WeatherBox) and exit settings. Then re-enter settings and select the WeatherBox theme you wish to use. This has only happened on rare occassions when WeatherPanel seems to remember the previous position of the Child windows instead of the position listed in the new wpl file which has been selected.

c.) I have seen two reports of the detailed text forecast (9) shadow text going strange. One was on a foriegn language version which might have been the cause. If you have problems with this you can edit the wpx file and remove the "SHADOW" option from the text display. I have also had a report that unchecking 'Enable ClearType Fonts' in weatherpanel settings may fix the problem. In the current text display (9a) occassionally the text might partially cover the small graphs at the bottom. If this bothers you then edit the wpx file and remove these graphs.
