Special Requirements

For the Neon Meltdown theme you have to download the font from the link above and place it in your device's Windows/Fonts folder for proper display.

This theme requires the LATEST VERSION of WeatherPanel, and you need at least three sizes of icons for proper display, for these files you need regular, large and mini icons. The directory structure for icons should be as follows: Icons/YourIcons where YourIcons is the icon set you are using. This folder can have the following sub-folders: Huge, Large, Mini and Moon, the Large and Mini can have a sub-folder in them called Moon.

I originally designed this layout with Samurize icons in mind, but find it displays very well with Spill icons as well. I have tested this layout with all the icons sets available to me and the only icons that won't work well are Juni's SciFi and LaCars icons as they are colored very similarly to the background. If you use animated icons I recommend that you don't use animated Mini icons as this can cause flashing on page 5 from the overlap of two animated icons.

The lunar calendar display will work best if you have mini moon icons in your selected theme. It will use the built in mini moons if you do not but this will significantly slow the display. If you wish to use the Real time moon image display make that image the seventh image of your home city. To use this you must have the seventh radar image pointed to the following URL: [1] Note that if you have no seventh image the screen will default to a standard moon image from your icon set, this is so you do not have to have multiple downloads of the moon image for proper display when not viewing from your home city. If you do not have six radar images for your home city use the link below to create a blank radar image. The url for this blank radar image is: [2] Use this link to create a blank radar image link. The image is a one pixel jpg image so it shouldn't take long to download or take up significant space on your device.

Introduction

NEON MELTDOWN is a fully landscape and portrait compliant WeatherPanel theme with only one size available. It should work fine as a tab in PocketBreeze but if you use side tabs some screens will be too compressed in portrait mode.

Installation Instructions:

Download the proper VGA or QVGA file to your computer and unzip the folder and place the NEON MELTDOWN folder on your PPC in your MaresWare/WeatherPanel/Themes folder. Go into WeatherPanel settings and select the display tab from the bottom. For theme select NeonMeltdown, and select one of the included layouts for the Layout. A general description of available layouts is listed below. Select the icons you wish to use with the layout (Note that the lunar calendar works much faster if you have mini moon icons with the Icons you select. All themes work best with both normal and mini icons.)

Layouts incuded

  • NeonMeltdown.wpl - A 65 pixel high today layout designed to work well on a square screen device.
  • Neon Off.wpl - Similar to above but without most of the Neon effects and using a standard font.

Known Limitations and bugs:

1.) This theme will not display at it's best in PocketBreeze with side tabs. All the windows will automatically resize depending on the view width but some pages will look a little compressed, the forecast and current pages may not be readable.

2.) If you do not update for over 24 hours then some of the display will be somewhat unpredictable. This is a limitation of using the CURRENT forecast section. If you do not update then the current forecast will not be available.

3.) NOTE TO QVGA USERS: My battery died on my old iPaq 5555 so I do not have a QVGA device to test on. Thanks to STORYR'S help I believe I have sorted out most display problems, any left are my fault as there are certain limitations with this theme that don't convert perfectly to QVGA.
